Pa Co is located 35 km in the northwest of Mai Chau district, Hoa Binh.
The main terrain of Pa Co is the rugged cat-ear rock. The average height is 1,400 m above sea level, of which the highest point is 1,536 m.
Pa Co is surrounded by many high mountains, mainly in the northwest direction. Due to the influence of the mountainous terrain, the climate of Pa Co differs from other localities in the district with two distinct dry and rainy seasons. In the rainy season, the South wind always adds moisture and steam and the wind intensity is relatively strong. In the dry season, the humidity is low, and there are salt mist, fog, and drizzling rain. The temperature difference between day and night is very high and the wind direction is mainly the Northeast monsoon.
One of the most outstanding features here is the Pa Co market, the trading and exchanging place of highland people. The Pa Co fair market, though taking place once a week, is bustling like a festival. Coming here, visitors will be "overwhelmed" by a variety of products, from agricultural products, fabrics, brocades, farm tools to household appliances, electronics, music discs, and cosmetics.
