Overview

Ngoc Hoang Pagoda is located on Mai Thi Luu Street, District 1 (Ho Chi Minh City) is more than a century old. It has been recognized by the state as a national artistic architectural heritage.

Ngoc Hoang Pagoda has an area of 2,300 m2, built in the period of 1892-1900 with architecture in the Chinese style. In 1984, Ngoc Hoang Pagoda was renamed, Phuoc Hai. However, people still are known as Ngoc Hoang because the main hall is the place to worship Ngoc Hoang according to Chinese beliefs.

The temple is located at 73 Mai Thi Luu, Da Kao Ward, District 1 (HCMC). Inside, there are still many vistas, paintings, worshiping and incense. This is the only temple in Vietnam to have ancient paper statues showing the gods' gatherings about the Jade Emperor. In 1994, it was recognized as a national artistic architectural heritage.
